President's Message - January 2011 |
|
Happy New Year! In my first message of the New Year, I would like to reflect on what we accomplished this past year. 2010 was a very good year for the Forest City Community Association. We had very successful events…it began in February with our tasty membership brunch, and continued in the spring with our Easter egg hunt. We took the summer off, but despite the chilly day, our Fall Festival was a lot of fun; there was great food, pony rides and a petting zoo, pumpkins for all, and for the first time, a very successful craft fair. 2010 culminated in the extremely well attended Christmas tree and Menorah lighting ceremony. It was a pleasure seeing hundreds of neighbors brave the freezing cold to witness our Lee Road elementary students sing holiday songs, and enjoy magical entertainment and refreshments; not to mention a visit by Santa himself. You can see video of this event produced by the Wantagh-Seaford Patch on our website or Facebook page. It was not only the events that were the highlights of 2010 in Forest City; there was the completion of the 60th anniversary commemorative walkway. In cooperation with the Town of Hempstead, the entrance to our clubhouse building on Morgan Drive was redesigned, and for the families and individuals whom purchased commemorative pavers, their legacy in Forest City is now engraved in stone. We were pleasantly surprised when we even had past residents of Forest City, currently living all over the country, purchase bricks after seeing the project on Facebook. I would like to thank everyone involved in making 2010 a very successful year in Forest City.
