President's Message December 2012 |
|
Dear Neighbors,
As we all know, it has been one hell of a Fall storm season for us with downed trees and power lines from SANDY, then compounded by the Nor’eastern with its 6 inches of snow hampering efforts to get the lights back on. As of this writing, there are still about 20,000 homes on LI in the dark. Tree limbs are still on our sidewalks and front yards ready to be picked up. Let’s hope that LIPA and FEMA get their jobs done as quickly as possible.
As I drove through our community, I was touched by seeing neighbor helping neighbor clearing debris from their home and property. In my personal situation, my neighbor Phil Zurkuli is one of those helpful neighbors. He connected my refrigerator to his generator. Up the street from me, a neighbor ran an extension cord across a street to share his generator with a neighbor who was in the dark.
To all those who helped a neighbor to clear their property, shared their generators or opened their doors to those still without power, “THANK YOU”. Good neighbors like those noted above are why Forest City is a great place to live.
Each year the FCCA Board selects a citizen of Forest City to be honored at the Annual Levittown Recognition Dinner which will take place in the Spring. If you know of someone who has contribguted their time and talents for the betterment of our community, please give me a call or send me an Email. My cell# is 350-2936, my Email address is

The Board will hold a meeting to review these candidates and make a final selection. As soon as Forest City Park reopens and we can have our meetings, we will post signs at strategic locations.
